Shelby Diesen - Fire Protection EIT

EXPERIENCE

Wildland, Federal

EXPERTISE

Shelby studied Environmental Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines with an emphasis on

humanitarian engineering. She also has practical experience working on USFS and BLM fire

engines as a wildland firefighter and on fire mitigation projects as an AmeriCorps Crew Lead.

Her wildland and fuels experience centered around protecting people, property, and natural

resources from wildland fire risk, and she is excited to channel her passion for fire protection

towards the urban sector. She recently passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and is the

newest Fire Protection Engineer-in-Training on the incandescence team.

When she is not at work

Shelby enjoys planning new thru-hikes and going on backpacking trips. She is also a certified yoga instructor and enjoys teaching classes to her fellow engineers
